Visa Regulations

Requirements for Au Pair

  • You are aged between 18 and 30;
  • Be able to afford travel expenses
  • Not married or have children
  • Basic knowledge of German
  • Health/travel insurance is recommended for au pair
  • Visa may be required for non-EU au pairs or extra conditions like sufficient funds to cover your stay
  • Contract is compulsory for Germany as well as an invitation letter for non-EU au pairs

Requirements for Family

  • There are one or more children between 3 and under 18 living in your home
  • The au pair must have her own room
  • Family should speak German and have German or EU citizenship
  • Daily working hours should not exceed 30 hours per week
  • Au pair is entitled to receive €280 Euros per month
  • Allow for some extra spending like mobile phone, insurance, language course
  • Au pair contract is needed for Germany as well as an invitation letter for non-EU au pairs
