Essential steps to become an Au Pair
Being an Au Pair has been life changing for me and why not for you?
It has certainly numerous advantages from learning or perfecting a new language, improving your CV skills, exploring other culture, undergoing a year of personal exploration, making new friends while being secure in a family setting.
However, careful planning needs to be done to find the perfect family. Here are a few tips to help you along the way:
- Make a list of your dream destinations while checking on Visa regulations.
- Choose the right time: When would you like to go? Gap Year? summer vacation? Au pair can stay between 3 and 24 months but can be extended in certain country.
- Think about the type of the family that you would like to live with: Age of children? Single parent? Family with pets? Any favorite activities or specific criteria?
- Find your purpose: would you like to improve your language skills? become bilingual? Learn a third language? improve you your CVs? any additional requirements?
- Prepare your references: Any childcare experience? Any personal reference that you would like to share with the families?
- Prepare interviews questions for families which will make you more comfortable during the selection process
