Requirements for Au Pair

  • You are aged between 18 and 30;
  • Can’t be married or have children
  • Be able to pay for travel expenses
  • Basic knowledge of English
  • Health/travel insurance is recommended for au pair
  • Visa may be required for non-EU au pairs or extra conditions like sufficient funds to cover your stay
  • No Contact is compulsory for Ireland, however We Hive recommends to use the official EU contract template to formalize daily tasks

Requirements for Family

  • There are one or more children between 3 and under 18 living in your home
  • The au pair must have her own room
  • Family should speak English
  • Au pair stay should be at least for 3 months, can be less in the summer
  • Au pair should be given free time to attend language course
  • Daily working hours should not exceed 30 hours per week
  • Au pair is entitled to receive the minimum wage (around £12.70 per hour)
  • Allow for some extra spending like mobile phone, insurance, language course if needed
  • No Contract is compulsory for Ireland, however We Hive recommends to use the official EU contract template to formalize daily tasks
